5.5.5 Headset Receive Distortion 611
5.5.5.1 Headset Receive Amplitude Normalized Total Harmonic Distortion (ANTHD) 612
Receive distortion has previously been specified as THD, but to eliminate the effects of the receive 613
frequency response, ANTHD is used in this document. 614
The receive volume control shall be set at the reference setting. For the increased receive volume 615
measurement, the control shall be set to its +12 dB Volume Control Setting. The THD of the signal 616
source shall be less than 0.5% for signals of -16 dBV and shall be less than 1.0% for signals of -1 617
dBV. 618
The receive ANTHD values with 0 km and 4.6 km artificial lines shall be determined at each of the 619
listed frequencies and shall be less than the values listed in Table 11. 620

5.5.5.2 Receive ANTHD with a Parallel set 624
At the Reference Volume Control Setting the receive ANTHD values for 0 km, and 4.6 km artificial 625
lines shall not exceed 10% for 500 Hz and 1000 Hz, using –16 dBV as the nominally loaded 626
generator level, with the CPE Load Simulator connected in parallel with the set under test. Note: 627
This requirement only applies to CPE that are designed to operate only with a headset (no support for 628
a handset). 629
